X-Gen 400mg (Moxifloxacin) Tab 5’s

This medicine is used to treat bacterial infections. It contains Moxifloxacin, an antibiotic, that works against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It attacks the bacteria and destroys them.

This medicine is used to treat bacterial infections related to lungs:

• Acute exacerbation of chronic Bronchitis
• Acute bacterial sinusitis
• Community-acquired pneumonia
• Mild to moderate pelvic inflammatory disease
• Complicated skin and skin structure infections

Please follow the correct dosage protocol:

• Adult and Elderly Dosage

400 mg orally or IV every 24 hours for 7 to 14 days

• Child Dosage

Children less than 12 years

If you think you have used too much of this medicine, talk to your doctor. Seek medical emergency help immediately. Watch out for symptoms like passing out and difficulty breathing.

If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don’t remember missing the dose, don’t double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.

Take one tablet daily, with or without food as your doctor has recommended. Take the medication regularly and simultaneously each day to get the most benefit from it.

Do not use this medicine if you have:

• Allergic reactions to moxifloxacin
• History of tendon problems
• Myasthenia gravis
• Central nervous system disorders
• Peripheral neuropathy
• QT prolongation
• Hypokalemia
• Bradycardia
• History of seizures
• Kidney problems
• Pregnancy or breastfeeding

Common side effects include:

• Nausea
• Diarrhea
• Dizziness
• Headache
• Insomnia
• Rash
• Allergic reactions
• QT prolongation
• Tendon damage

Following precautions and warnings must be adhered to:

• Don’t use this medicine if you are pregnant or lactating.
• Tell your doctor if you have a risk of seizures, heart disease, kidney or liver disease.

This medication may interact with these drugs:

• Drugs that prolong the QT interval including antiarrhythmics
• Antipsychotics
• Neuroleptics
• Antimicrobials
• Antihistamines
• Corticosteroids
• Hypokalaemic agents
• Anticoagulants
• Antacids
• Didanosine
• Sucralfate
• Charcoal
• Iron or zinc supplements

For Moxifloxacin, food interactions that should be considered are:

• Avoid dairy products as calcium can interfere with absorption.
• Taking with food may enhance absorption.

Store the medicine at room temperature and keep out of direct sunlight, excessive heat, and moisture. Keep the medicine out of the reach of children and animals. Do not use the medication past its expiration date.
