Used For: Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
How It Works:
Dexlansoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that belongs to the class of substituted benzimidazoles. It suppresses gastric acid secretion by specifically inhibiting the (H+, K+)-ATPase at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cells, effectively blocking the final step of acid production.

Tedavi Ddr Warnings:
Warning 1:
Long-term PPI therapy may increase the risk of osteoporosis-related bone fractures of the hip, spine, or wrist. Use the lowest effective dose and shortest duration necessary. Manage patients at risk for fractures according to established treatment guidelines.
Warning 2:
Consider checking serum magnesium levels before starting long-term therapy, especially if taking digoxin, diuretics, or other drugs known to cause hypomagnesemia.
Warning 3:
Prolonged use of dexlansoprazole may lead to vitamin B12 malabsorption and deficiency. Monitor vitamin B12 levels if treatment extends beyond one year.
