Requires Prescription: Yes
Generics: Misoprostol
Used For: Labour Induction, Prevention and Treatment of Stomach Ulcers
How It Works:
Misoprostol replaces prostaglandins that may be reduced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which can lead to stomach and duodenal ulcers. By increasing prostaglandins, Misoprostol helps protect the stomach and intestines, reduces acid production, and increases bicarbonate in stomach secretions. It also aids in starting labor, causing abortion, and treating postpartum bleeding due to poor uterine contraction.
