How It Works: Vomilux exerts its antiemetic effects through a combination of peripheral (gastrokinetic) actions and the antagonism of dopamine receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone, which is located outside the blood-brain barrier in the area postrema.

Side Effects:
Common:
Central Nervous System: Headache (5.6%), Somnolence (2.5%).
Gastrointestinal: Diarrhea (5.2%).
Skin: Rash (2.8%), Pruritus (1.7%).
Endocrine: Decreased Libido/Loss of Libido, Breast Enlargement/Gynaecomastia (5.3%), Breast Tenderness (4.4%), Galactorrhoea (3.3%), Amenorrhea (2.9%), Breast Pain (2.3%), Menstrual Irregularities (2.0%), Lactation Disorder (1.6%).
Uncommon:
Psychiatric: Depression (2.5%), Anxiety (1.6%).
Other: Akathisia (1%).
Drug Interactions: Caution is advised with CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., indinavir), antiarrhythmics (e.g., disopyramide, amiodarone), certain antipsychotics (e.g., haloperidol, pimozide), antidepressants (e.g., citalopram), antibiotics (e.g., levofloxacin), antifungal agents (e.g., pentamidine), antimalarial agents (e.g., halofantrine), gastrointestinal drugs (e.g., dolasetron), cancer medications (e.g., toremifene), and other drugs (e.g., bepridil, methadone).
Indication: Used to treat nausea and vomiting.
When Not to Use: Contraindicated in:
Patients with moderate to severe hepatic impairment.
Patients with known prolonged cardiac conduction intervals (particularly QTc) or significant electrolyte disturbances, and those with underlying cardiac conditions such as congestive heart failure.
Vomilux 60ml Precautions:
Precaution: Domperidone may be associated with an increased risk of serious ventricular arrhythmias or sudden cardiac death.
Vomilux 60ml Warnings:
Age Consideration: Patients older than 60 years should consult their physician before using domperidone.
Cardiac Risk: Not recommended for patients with known prolonged cardiac conduction intervals, particularly QTc, or those with significant electrolyte disturbances due to the increased risk of ventricular arrhythmia.
Monitoring: Treatment should be discontinued if signs or symptoms of cardiac arrhythmia occur, and the patient should promptly consult their physician.
