Infusing large volumes may cause dilutional acidosis due to decreased bicarbonate concentration in the plasma, as the solution does not contain bicarbonate.
Warnings:
Monitor for hypokalemia and/or hypocalcemia, as infusion can decrease these electrolyte levels.
Use caution in patients with renal failure or reduced urinary output due to obstructive urinary tract diseases.
Continuous infusion may cause hypernatremia; ensure free water is supplied if needed.
