How it Works: Chlordiazepoxide, a benzodiazepine, reduces anxiety by acting on the limbic system of the brain, while Clidinium Bromide, an anticholinergic, helps relieve spasms in the gastrointestinal tract.
Librax Tablets Usage and Safety:
Dosage: Clidinium Bromide, Chlordiazepoxide
Side Effects: Possible side effects include constipation, transient bradycardia (which may be followed by tachycardia, palpitations, and arrhythmias), reduced bronchial secretions, urinary urgency, pupil dilation with loss of accommodation, photophobia, dry mouth, skin flushing, and dryness. Rarely, confusion, nausea, vomiting, and giddiness may occur; very rarely, angle-closure glaucoma may develop.
Drug Interactions: Use with caution with amantadine, atenolol, digoxin, phenothiazines, and tricyclic antidepressants.
Indication: Controls emotional and somatic factors in gastrointestinal disorders, adjunctive therapy for peptic ulcer, irritable bowel syndrome, and acute enterocolitis.
When Not to Use: Contraindicated in patients with glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, benign bladder neck obstruction, and known hypersensitivity to chlordiazepoxide hydrochloride or clidinium bromide.
