Side Effects:
Uncommon (up to 1 in 100 people): Headache, dizziness, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, bloating, flatulence, constipation, dry mouth, abdominal discomfort, skin rash, itching, general weakness, sleep disorders, hip/wrist/spine fractures.
Rare (up to 1 in 1,000 people): Altered taste, blurred vision, hives, joint/muscle pain, weight changes, elevated body temperature, swelling of extremities, allergic reactions, depression, breast enlargement in males.
Very Rare: Disorientation.
Drug Interactions: May interact with ketoconazole, itraconazole, posaconazole, erlotinib, warfarin, phenprocoumon, atazanavir, methotrexate, fluvoxamine, and rifampicin.
Indications:
For Use: In combination with two antibiotics to eradicate Helicobacter pylori and reduce recurrence of duodenal and gastric ulcers. Also used for duodenal ulcers, gastric ulcers, and moderate to severe reflux esophagitis.
Contraindications
Do Not Use: If allergic to pantoprazole or any components of the tablet, or other proton pump inhibitors.
Precautions:
Precaution: Consult your doctor if you have severe liver issues or a history of liver problems. Liver enzyme levels should be monitored regularly.
Warnings:
Warning 1: Long-term use of pantoprazole may slightly increase the risk of fractures in the hip, wrist, or spine.
Warning 2: Inform your doctor if you have previously experienced skin reactions to similar medications.
Warning 3: If you develop a rash or joint pain, especially if exposed to sunlight, inform your doctor as treatment may need to be adjusted.
