Serratiopeptidase is a proteolytic enzyme that has been used for reducing inflammation, it has antiedemic, analgesic, fibrinolytic and caesinolytic properties.

Serrapeptase is used for conditions such as:

• Back pain
• Osteoarthritis
• Rheumatoid arthritis
• Conditions generally associated with pain and swelling (inflammation)

Follow these dosage instructions:

• Adult Dosage

The usual adult dosage of serrapeptase is 10 mg 3 times daily (maximum dose, 60 mg/day) taken 2 hours after meals, with typical treatment durations of up to 1 week when used as an anti-inflammatory agent and up to 4 weeks when used as a mucolytic agent.

Seek medical help if you think you have taken too much of this medication.

If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don’t remember missing the dose, don’t double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.

You should take it on an empty stomach or at least 30 mins before eating or two hours after finishing a meal.

Before using this medication, note the following cautions:

• Serrapeptase is potentially safe for adults when taken orally for up to 4 weeks. However, its safety beyond this period is uncertain due to insufficient reliable information.
• There is a risk that serrapeptase may worsen bleeding disorders by interfering with blood clotting. If you have such a disorder, consult your doctor before using serrapeptase.
• Exercise caution if you plan on undergoing surgery, as serrapeptase might increase bleeding during and after the procedure. Stop serrapeptase use at least 2 weeks before any scheduled surgery.
• The safety of serrapeptase during pregnancy or breastfeeding is unclear. To stay on the safe side, it is advisable to avoid its use in these situations.

The food interactions that should be considered while using Serratiopeptidase are:

• No significant interactions with food.
• Taking with food may help reduce gastrointestinal upset.
