How It Works:
Dexlansoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces gastric acid production. It works by specifically inhibiting the (H+, K+)-ATPase enzyme at the surface of gastric parietal cells, effectively blocking the final step of acid production.

Dosage: Dexlansoprazole
Side Effects:
Common: Diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, upper respiratory tract infection, vomiting, flatulence.
Less Common: Anemia, lymphadenopathy, angina, arrhythmia, bradycardia, chest pain, edema, myocardial infarction, palpitations, tachycardia, ear pain, tinnitus, vertigo, goiter, eye irritation, eye swelling, abdominal discomfort, abdominal tenderness, abnormal feces, anal discomfort, Barrett’s esophagus, bezoar, abnormal bowel sounds, breath odor, colitis, colonic polyp, constipation, dry mouth, duodenitis, dyspepsia, dysphagia, enteritis, eructation, esophagitis, gastric polyp, gastritis, gastroenteritis, and gastrointestinal disorders.
Drug Interactions:
Rilpivirine, atazanavir, nelfinavir, saquinavir

Indication:
Healing of all grades of erosive esophagitis (EE) for up to eight weeks.
Maintenance of EE healing and relief of heartburn for up to six months.
Treatment of heartburn associated with symptomatic non-erosive GERD for four weeks.
When Not to Use:
Known hypersensitivity to dexlansoprazole or any of its components.
Use with rilpivirine-containing products.
Severe hepatic impairment.

Precaution:
Use of PPIs may increase the risk of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, especially in hospitalized patients. It is advised to use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary.
Razodex Capsules Warnings:
Warning 1:
Prolonged use of PPIs may increase the risk of osteoporosis-related fractures in the hip, spine, or wrist. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration, and manage patients at risk for fractures according to established guidelines.
Warning 2:
Consider checking serum magnesium levels before starting long-term therapy, particularly if taking digoxin, diuretics, or other drugs known to cause hypomagnesemia.
Warning 3:
Long-term use may lead to vitamin B12 malabsorption and deficiency.
