How it Works: Sodium picosulfate, a bisodic salt, acts as a local laxative. It is metabolized by colonic bacteria to an active compound that stimulates the large intestine mucosa and promotes colonic peristalsis, typically effective within 10–14 hours.
Laxoberon Syrup Usage And Safety:
Dosage: Sodium Picosulphate
Side Effects: Abdominal pain, discomfort, distension, borborygmus, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea may occur rarely.
Drug Interactions: May interact with antibiotics, digoxin, diuretics, lithium, corticosteroids, oral contraceptives, antidiabetics, anticonvulsants, iron, bulking agents, TCADs, SSRIs, and antipsychotics.
Indication: Used for acute and chronic constipation, evacuation in painful conditions like hemorrhoids, pre and post-operative bowel preparation, and colon preparation for proctosigmoidoscopy.
When not to Use: Contraindicated in patients with ileum, intestinal obstruction, acute abdominal conditions (e.g., appendicitis, inflammatory bowel disease), severe dehydration, or known hypersensitivity to sodium picosulfate.

Precaution: Avoid prolonged use to prevent diarrhea and electrolyte imbalance, including possible hypokalemia.
